Top defense officials from ROK, US and Japan hold phone conference

On the evening (9 P.M.) of February 4, 2022, the Republic of Korea (ROK), the United States (US) and Japan held phone talks among top officials of defense authorities.

Chief of the Defense Policy Office of the Ministry of National Defense Kim Man-ki, US Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs Ely Ratner, and Chief of Defense Policy of Japan's Defense Ministry Kazuo Masuda took part in the Friday talks as representatives from their respective countries.

The three representatives shared their assessment of the situation on the Korean Peninsula and in the region, including North Korea’s recent consecutive missile launches.

The three representatives also reaffirmed the importance of security cooperation among the ROK, US and Japan, and agreed to continue trilateral discussions via phone and other channels.
