Two ministries opened the 『College of Defense AI Education』 in the private AI graduate schools (Sungkyunkwan University, Jungang University)
Ministries plan to get into AI education for military officers, with the goal of fostering one thousand AI experts in five years

On Friday, May 27, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) and the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) held an opening ceremony for the ‘College of Defense Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education’ at the Pangyo Startup Campus of Sungkyunkwan University (located in Bundang-gu, Gyeonggi-do), an operating institute for 「AI education specialized in the military」.

「AI education specialized in the military」 is part of the “project to strengthen AI and software (SW) capabilities of soldiers,” which is being pushed collaboratively by the MND and the MSIT with the goal of nurturing strong forces in science and technology and training one million digital talents, while fostering one thousand AI experts in the military in five years (2022 to 2026).

In addition to the AI expert education course for military officers, customized and bidirectional online AI and SW education to provide support to soldiers who work on self-development and employment/startup after discharge from the military service will also be opened in June, and its details will be announced later via the online portal ‘narasarang.’
