S. Korea, Mongolia hold defense ministerial talks

On October 20, Defense Minister Shin, Wonsik met with his Mongolian counterpart, Saikhanbayar Gursed. They exchanged views on security situations, defense, and defense industry cooperation between the two countries at the Defense Ministry building in Seoul. Minister Shin emphasized that North Korea’s advanced nuclear capabilities and continued provocations pose challenges to both the Korean Peninsula and the Indo-Pacific region. He asked his Mongolian counterpart for continued endorsement of the Korean government’s North Korea policy. The two defense ministers discussed various issues aligned with their strategic partnership, including (i) multilateral and bilateral cooperation for training exercises, (ii) exchange of military education, and (iii) promotion of defense industry cooperation.
