Korea-U.S. take a concept of a 4D operation towards North Korea into shape.


Korean and U.S. defense ministries are going to hold the 9th KIDD (Korea-U.S. Integrated Defense Dialogue) in Washington D.C. on May 9 to 10.


Republic of Korea’s Chief of the Office of Planning and Coordination at the Defense Ministry, Ryu Je-seung, as well as the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian Pacific Security Affairs, David Shear, will be at a this high-level meeting. As well, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for East Asia, Abraham Denmark, as well as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear and Missile Defense Policy, Elaine Bunn, will be at the main meeting as official delegates.


In addition, key Korean and American diplomatic defense personnel will be in attendance, including Deputy Director-General of the North American Affairs Bureau in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yeo Seung-bae, and Special Representative for North Korea Policy, Sung Kim.


The two sides will hold a discussion on the overall pending security issues related to the alliance: ▲the need to restrain North Korean nuclear/missile threats and provocations, as well as policy assistance for joint Korea-US response; ▲an operational plan for the Deterrence Strategy Committee (DSC) and actual plans to take a 4D operation and its implementation guideline into shape; and ▲follow-up actions for the stable progress of condition-based switches of wartime operational control.
