Korea-Germany enter into MOU on logistics cooperation

On March 7, Korean and German defense ministries laid the foundation for strengthening their logistics cooperation in various areas, including PKO support.

Major General Park Byung-ki, director general of logistics management, signed an MOU on logistics cooperation with Rear Admiral Mühlen, the first commissioner of the policy bureau, at a building of the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin, and discussed mutual concerns of the two militaries, including the measures to hold logistics cooperation meetings on a regular basis.

By signing the MOU, the two defense ministries have decided to deepen and develop their friendly cooperation and share experiences about logistics innovation. They promised to enhance their logistics cooperation, particularly in PKO activities and disaster relief areas.

“With this MOU, we can expect to develop our logistics support capabilities in various types of military operations that we will join with Germany and to have more stable mission execution by boosting our mission capabilities,” said an MND official.

MND has now entered and/or implemented MOUs for logistics cooperation with 15 countries, including the U.S. and Australia, and is planning to further expand logistics cooperation with other allied nations in order to increase logistics support capabilities.
