Reliable security keeper for my town

A celebration for the 48th Day of ROK Homeland Reserve Forces was held by Seoul and metropolitan councils of the country in the morning on April 1, and was supervised by mayors and governors, chairmen of regional united defense council, and attended by the reserves as well as commanding officers, chiefs of local organizations and local residents.

At this celebration, the 3rd Army Corps and 56th Division were honored with a presidential unit citation as the best assigned army unit. Al, 24 units and organizations received a group award, and 283 reserve forces, government employees and civilians who made the biggest commitment to the progresses in homeland reserve forces operation received individual awards such as the presidential citation. In addition, 11 organizations including the National Museum of Korea and others, offered free admission and discount benefits to the reserve.

Previously, MND selected 40 exemplary reserve forces who were devoted to the development of reserve forces and regional homeland defense in all parts of the country for the Day of ROK Reserve Forces, and provided them and their wives with tours around the industrial complex, Cheongwadae and Jeju island for 5 nights, 6 days from March 30 to April 4.

During his speech, Minister of National Defense Han Min-koo said, “The reserve forces form one part of our national security structure, and protect people’s lives and assets with their prepared fighting power. Considering that in our security situation, 70% of our fighting forces will be filled by our reserves in the event of an emergency, the importance of our reserves cannot be overemphasized.”

He also continued, “The most important thing in overcoming a crisis is to have unified sense of national security and integrated power of the people. You, as the reserves, should play a leading role to gather the will and ability of the people as a bridge between military and civil society.”
