U.S. nuclear-propelled submarine visits Busan
Paying respects at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery and volunteer activities
to strengthen a blood allies comradeship

The U.S. Navy’s nuclear-propelled submarine, the Michigan, came into Busan operations base on June 23 to strengthen relations with the Korean Navy.
 
The Michigan was warmly received by soldiers of the naval operations command and is going to stay until June 30. The Korean and U.S. Navies will have a variety of interchange activities to tighten the blood allied comradeship, such as paying respects at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery, combined volunteer activities at social welfare facilities, an athletic meeting, exploration of culture, a submarine tour, etc.
 
Especially on the 25th, around 60 soldiers will attend a memorial ceremony, conducted by Busan City, for the UN’s fallen heroes who were killed during the 6·25 War to honor their spirit of sacrifice.
 
The Michigan, commissioned in 1982, is the second Ohio-class nuclear strategy submarine. It boasts size a displacement of 16,800 tons, 170m in length and 13m in width. It is also capable of carrying 150 sailors and approximately 150 Tomahawks, a cruise missile, which can precisely attack targets 1,600km away.
