Vice defense minister holds 10th ROK-Vietnam Defense Strategy Dialogue

Marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two sides agree to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the areas of national defense and the arms industry

On September 5 (Monday), Vice Minister of National Defense Shin Beom-chul held the ROK-Vietnam Defense Strategy Dialogue with his Vietnamese counterpart Hoang Xuan Chien, and the two sides discussed ways to invigorate defense exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, as well as the security situation in the region including the Korean Peninsula.

Recognizing the 30th anniversary of ROK-Vietnam diplomatic relations, the two vice ministers agreed to expand exchanges and cooperation in the area of national defense, in order to meet the effort of the governments of the two countries which are pushing ahead with elevating the relationship to a 「comprehensive strategic partnership」.

Explaining our government’s policy regarding North Korea in detail, Shin asked for Vietnam’s proactive support and cooperation with our efforts to denuclearize North Korea and build peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula.
