Defense ministry and Navy to participate in Japan’s International Fleet Review

The Ministry of National Defense and the Navy have decided to join the International Fleet Review, slated to be held in Japan on November 6.

This is the result of a comprehensive consideration of △ our Navy participating twice in the International Fleet Review hosted by Japan and △ international relations related to the International Fleet Review.

Significantly, it is expected that our Navy’s participation in the joint multilateral humanitarian exercise, which is to be held on the sidelines of this international fleet review, and the Western Pacific Naval Symposium, which will involve the chiefs of naval operations from 30 countries, will provide a good chance to strengthen the maritime security cooperation among our Navy and neighboring countries and the international community, as well as enhance amicable cooperation with the allies’ navies.

The ministry emphasizes that it considered with the utmost priority the security implications of our Navy’s participation in this international fleet review, given the grave security situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula, caused by North Korea's recent series of provocations.
