Defense minister to hold ROK-Australia defense ministerial talks in Australia

Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-sup plans to visit Australia from August 2 to August 6 at the invitation of his Australian counterpart and Deputy Prime Minister Marles, and will hold ROK-Australia defense ministerial talks in Canberra on August 4.

At the meeting, the two ministers will share their assessment of the security situation in the region, including on the Korean Peninsula, and discuss the current issues related to bilateral cooperation in the areas of national defense and the arms industry, as part of a follow-up measure to implement the agreements made at the ROK-Australia summit on the sidelines of the NATO summit held last June.

Meanwhile, Lee plans to pay tribute to Australian war veterans by laying flowers on the Korean War Veterans Memorial monument during his visit to Australia, and visit the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), an independent think tank in Australia, to exchange opinions on the security situation in the region.
